Fireball New to Saratoga
County Fair
|
The Midway at the Saratoga County Fair in Ballston Spa
will have a new look this year due to the appearance of
a new super-spectacular ride, the Fireball. Amusements
of America, recognized throughout the industry as one of
the nation's premier carnival operators, will be
presenting this exciting new ride as the highlight of
their carnival midway at the Fair, scheduled for July 16
through 21 this year.
The Fireball is a ride with maximum thrill appeal. The
passenger compartment resembles a huge claw, with riders
seated at the tips of the fingers. The "claw"
is mounted at the bottom of a 50-foot tall arm. The arm
swings like a pendulum from the apex, while the claw
with the seated riders spins in all
directions. Riders are turned upside down and
around, all the while experiencing the full effects of a
constantly changing G-force. For after dark riders of
the Fireball there's a fantastic flashing colored light
show to accompany the experience.

Lots of new and modern rides
will be in action at the Fair, according to Amusements
of America officials. Visitors to this year's Fair will
get to experience the thrills of other spectacular rides
like the Music Express, Bonzai, and Wave
Swinger. Also appearing will be a brand new Mardi
Gras Glass House, guaranteed to pleasantly frustrate all
who choose to enter into its mirrored maze.
Parents and children alike will love the complete
Kiddieland, with plenty of modern, family-friendly
attractions appealing to everyone. Carnival games
appealing to all ages and skill levels will line the
midway. |
A wide variety of fun foods like candy apples,
sno-cones, and cotton candy, and long-time staples like
corn dogs, funnel cakes, and sausage sandwiches will be
in plentiful supply.
Amusements of America is a 63-year-old, family owned
and operated company. The company was founded with the
purchase by Anthony Vivona of the Ferris Wheel from the
just completed 1939 New York World's Fair. His five sons
soon became involved in the operation. Today, over 60
years later, the business is still operated by the five
Vivona brothers, with several of their sons and nephews
now assuming leadership roles in the family operation.
This family style of management has proven successful
for the Vivonas.

This is most evident by virtue of their regular and
long-standing performances at dozens of major state and county
fairs. With three separate and complete units touring the
country at all times, the carnival travels over 20,000 miles
annually, playing for over eight million people. |
